Sold as a pet to Kathrine Hiemer, Darla showed an interest (as did Kathy) in "doing stuff" such as field trialing and earthdog. She finished her field championship with ease and took to earthdog too. Darla seemingly took forever to mature, however as she did she became competitive in the conformation ring as well, garnering her conformaton championship at just over 3 years of age.

Darla winning her 3rd major (4 pts) under Joy Brewster
